Headshots!

**Remember: The Boston market does NOT require professional headshots for kids and teens to be able to do well in**

The most important thing you can send to a CD or Agent is a picture. An updated picture of what you really look like Don't put on any makeup that looks unnatural and dress appropriate to your age...meaning don't try to look 18 when you 14. Take advantage; looking young in this buisness is a plus. If you can look 12, but are 14...go for the young look...the market is bigger for 12 year olds anyway. If you have a digital camera, you can load the pictures onto a website like Shutterfly.com or Ofoto.com and buy prints. If you aren't willing to spend any money to get professional pictures...you're in luck!

If you have the money and want to go the professional route, there are a number of headshot photographers in Boston...some of which are listed below. If you do end up getting an agent, some will encourage you to get professional headshots as they usually look cleaner. Agents do not expect professional headshots in submitions.

TIPS FOR GETTING THE BEST SHOT POSSIBLE (on your own):
- Try to get the spark from the eyes...many times laughing shouts are great for that.
- Natural light is the best to capture the picture, but if you must do it inside, try not to get weird shadows across the face or hair.
- Hair normally looks better down (for girls)
- Try to take the picture with a plain or blurred backround
-Make sure the picture is cropped (can be done on shutterfly.com) So that there isn't too much neck, shoulder, etc. We want to see your face!
